Snoop Dogg Fights Back Against Criticism at Trump Inauguration

Rapper Snoop Dogg has come under fire from fans after performing at Donald Trump’s Crypto Ball ahead of his inauguration. The performance sparked backlash, with many accusing the rapper of hypocrisy given his past criticism of Trump.

Responding to the criticism on Instagram, Snoop shared a video addressing the controversy. “For all the hate, I’m going to answer with love,” he said while sitting in his car, as reported by People.

“Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I’m cool. I’m together. Still a Black man. Still 100% Black. All out ’til you ball out or ’til you fall out,” he added, according to the outlet.

Previously, Snoop discussed the backlash during an appearance on the R&B Money Podcast. “You’re gonna deal with hate when you get to the top, no matter who you are… Personally, I answer it with success and love. That’s my way of handling any hate or negativity because love is the strongest force that can defeat it,” he explained.

Snoop’s performance at the Crypto Ball in Washington, DC, on January 17 has drawn attention partly because of his past remarks. In September 2018, the rapper criticized Kanye West and others who supported Trump, as reported by People. During an appearance on DJ Suss One’s SiriusXM show, Snoop became upset when informed that some of his fans supported Trump. “I tell them straight up…,” he said, calling Trump supporters “racist” and asking the host to relay his views clearly. He also openly criticized West for publicly endorsing Trump.

Other celebrities who performed at Trump’s inauguration events included Carrie Underwood, Jason Aldean, Kid Rock, Nelly, and Billy Ray Cyrus. Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States at the U.S. Capitol, with Chief Justice John Roberts administering the oath.
