Cleanliness Drive: On October 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheaded a nationwide cleanliness drive. It aimed to blend fitness, well-being, and cleanliness. “Swachhata hi Seva,” witnessed the participation of thousands of individuals who engaged in an hour-long “Shramdaan” across the country.

During the event, PM Modi actively wielded a broom, symbolizing the importance of cleanliness. He was joined by fitness influencer Ankit Baiyanpuriya. In a 4-minute video shared on his official social media account, PM Modi highlighted the integration of fitness and well-being into the cleanliness drive. He emphasized the need for a “Swachh and Swasth Bharat” (Clean and Healthy India).

A Nationwide Participation

People from diverse backgrounds, including politicians and students, enthusiastically took part in the ‘Swachhata hi Seva’ campaign, responding to the Prime Minister’s call for a cleanliness drive. According to the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, more than 9.20 lakh sites across the country were adopted for this mega drive.

In a recent episode of “Mann Ki Baat,” PM Modi urged all citizens to dedicate “one hour of shramdaan” for cleanliness on October 1. This act was seen as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the eve of his birth anniversary.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP chief J.P. Nadda actively participated in cleanliness drives in various locations. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took part in the ‘Swachhata Pakhwada’ in Sitapur.

Union Power Minister R.K. Singh expressed the government’s resolve to make the country clean, acknowledging the challenges ahead. Union Ministers and BJP leaders across the country joined the ‘Swachhata hi Seva’ campaign.

States like Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra adopted numerous sites for cleanliness drives, including market areas, water bodies, religious places, schools, colleges, and more. Telangana focused on cleaning temples of historical significance during the drive.

Leaders and citizens alike expressed their commitment to the Swachh Bharat Mission initiated by PM Modi. The drive symbolizes a continued effort to promote cleanliness, health, and fitness across the nation.
