BENGALURU – A software engineer from Bengaluru has been detained by Delhi Police Special Cell for questioning in connection with the December 13 breach of Parliament security.
The detainee has been identified as Saikrishna Jagali, a multinational company employee hailing from Bagalkote district of Karnataka. He was picked up from his Vidyagiri residence late Wednesday night.
As per reports, Jagali is a college friend and past roommate of Manoranjan D., one of the key accused arrested earlier for the security lapse.
Jagali’s sister Spanda confirmed his detention, stating that her brother has fully cooperated with the investigation and maintains his innocence. She added that Manoranjan and Jagali were roommates in college previously.
In total six people have been taken into custody in the high-profile case so far. All accused were interrogated intensely by various units of the Delhi Police Special Cell on Wednesday before being handed to the Counter Intelligence Unit leading the probe.
The seven-day custody period of four arrested accused – Manoranjan, Amol, Sagar, and Neelam – is set to expire on Thursday.
Authorities are investigating potential personal links and local facilitation that enabled the five men to breach Parliament premises and subsequent security layers before being apprehended. Their motives also remain unclear.
