The Navi Mumbai Police have filed a new chargesheet against five individuals accused of plotting to assassinate Bollywood actor Salman Khan, linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, NDTV reported.
On April 14, two assailants on motorcycles fired multiple shots outside Salman Khan’s Bandra residence, leading to the apprehension of several suspects. The Bishnoi gang allegedly contracted a hit worth ₹25 lakh to assassinate the actor, with the plot unfolding from August 2023 to April 2024.
Investigations revealed the gang planned to procure advanced firearms, including AK-47s, AK-92s, M16 rifles, and the Turkish-made Zigana pistol—the same make used in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala on May 29, 2022.
The conspiracy included a meticulously planned surveillance operation with a network of 60 to 70 individuals monitoring Salman Khan’s movements, including his Mumbai residence, Panvel farmhouse, and Goregaon Film City, a frequent site for his film shoots, NDTV reported.
The chargesheet also revealed that minors under 18 were recruited to carry out the assassination, awaiting instructions from Goldie Brar and Anmol Bishnoi, prominent gang members believed to be based in North America.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met Salman Khan and assured him of all possible help after the April 14 shooting incident. “The government is with you, I have told Salman Khan. Both the accused have been arrested. They will be interrogated. We will get to the root of the case. Nobody will be spared,” Shinde said.
