17 Years Later, the Magic Lives On: Yuvraj Singh Recalls Six-Sixes Moment

September 19, 2007, a day that will forever be etched in the annals of Indian cricket history, marked the incredible feat of Yuvraj Singh. In the inaugural T20 World Cup, the left-handed batter unleashed a display of power hitting that left the world stunned.

During a crucial match against England, Yuvraj Singh faced Stuart Broad, the English fast bowler. In a single over, he launched the ball six times over the boundary, becoming the first cricketer to achieve this extraordinary feat in T20 cricket. This moment defined the shortest format of the game and continues to inspire cricketers and fans alike.

Seventeen years later, Yuvraj Singh took to social media to commemorate the anniversary of his iconic performance. “Forever grateful to represent my country and for moments like these,” he wrote on X, sharing a video of the six sixes.

In addition to his historic achievement, Yuvraj Singh recently revealed his all-time XI. A decorated cricketer himself, Yuvraj made some expected choices, including Indian batting legends Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma.

The opening pair consisted of Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting, followed by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli at numbers three and four. AB de Villiers occupied the number five spot, while Adam Gilchrist took on the role of wicket-keeper at number six.

Yuvraj opted for Australian spin-bowling legend Shane Warne at number seven and Muttiah Muralitharan at number eight. Glenn McGrath and Wasim Akram filled the pace department at numbers nine and ten, respectively. The all-rounder spot went to Andrew Flintoff.

When asked to name a special number 12 player, Yuvraj modestly chose himself. His contributions to Indian cricket, both on and off the field, have solidified his place as one of the game’s most iconic figures.
