Former United States President Donald Trump advocated for targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities in response to Iran’s recent missile attack on Israel, marking a sharp contrast with President Joe Biden’s more cautious approach to the escalating Middle East tensions.
Donald Trump slams President Biden in handling Iran conflicts
Speaking at a recent event, Trump criticized Biden’s handling of the situation, particularly focusing on the current president’s response to questions about potential strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. “They asked him, what do you think about Iran? Would you hit Iran? And he goes, ‘As long as they don’t hit the nuclear stuff’. That’s the thing you want to hit, right?”
Trump added, “Isn’t that what you’re supposed to hit? I mean, it’s the biggest risk we have, nuclear weapons.”
The Republican presidential nominee, Trump suggested that Joe Biden should have encouraged Israel to target Iran’s nuclear installations and “worry about everything else later.” Trump concluded his remarks by noting, “If they’re going to do it, they’re going to do it. But we’ll find out whatever their plans are.”
How did President Joe Biden react to Trump’s suggestions?
In contrast, President Joe Biden has emphasized diplomatic restraint. When questioned about the possibility of a larger conflict, Biden expressed optimism about avoiding escalation: “How confident are you it’s not going to rain? Look, I don’t believe there will be an all-out war. I think we can avoid it.”
He also reaffirmed America’s commitment to Israel’s security, stating, “We have already helped Israel. We are going to protect Israel.”
Here’s what Iran’s Supreme Leader said:
Meanwhile, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei defended his country’s actions in his first Friday sermon since 2020. He characterized Iran’s missile attack as “legal and legitimate” and described it as minimal retribution for “Israel’s crimes.”
Further, Khamenei stated, “Israel pretends to win through assassinations, destruction, bombing and killing of civilians. This behaviour increased the resistance’s motivation. This reality shows us that every strike launched by any group against Israel is a service to the region and all humanity.”
