Following the blockbuster success of “Jawan,” director Atlee is preparing to embark on his sixth directorial venture, this time with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan at the helm. Industry insiders reveal that the project is shaping up to be an ambitious two-hero saga, with plans to bring either Tamil cinema legends Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth on board as the parallel lead.
Salman Khan to join Atlee’s action-thriller
According to Pinkvilla’s exclusive report, the film promises to be a unique reincarnation drama spanning two distinct eras.
“Atlee has been working on a mega-budget reincarnation drama for the last year, which is set in two distinct eras – past and present,” revealed a source close to the production. “The filmmaker is looking to have a strong, never-seen-before period setup with breathtaking visuals of a fictional world.”
What do we expect?
The project aims to present Salman Khan in an unprecedented avatar as a warrior in the period segments, while details about the contemporary storyline remain under wraps. “The focus of the film will be more on the period portions than the present, as the script demands more drama and conflict in the fictional fantasy world,” the source explained.
Production is scheduled to commence in Summer 2025, with Atlee currently focused on script development and pre-production. “It’s an ambitious film with Atlee looking to create a new world for cinema-going audiences, with lots of action, drama, thrills and emotion,” the insider added. “The filmmaker is confident to get one of the two legends – Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth – to play the parallel lead.”
Salman Khan’s Sikardar
While this mega-project takes shape, Salman Khan continues work on “Sikandar,” directed by AR Murugadoss and co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, set for an Eid 2025 release. The potential collaboration between Atlee and Salman Khan, coupled with the possible addition of a South Indian legend, has already generated significant buzz in the film industry, promising to be one of the most anticipated projects of recent years.
