A new campaign titled #HandsOffMyPorn has emerged in the battleground states, warning voters about potential threats to adult entertainment under a possible second Donald Trump presidency. The initiative, which has invested $200,000 in advertising on adult websites, aims to mobilize viewers against what they see as an existential threat to their industry.
Adult Film stars launches campaign against Donald Trump
“If you care about adult entertainment, if you consume or create adult entertainment, you gotta vote November 5,” says porn actress Siouxsie Q, highlighting the urgency of their message. The campaign targets primarily male viewers, who study from the Institute for Family Studies show are four times more likely to consume adult content than women.
The industry’s concerns stem from Project 2025, a comprehensive 900-page blueprint for restructuring the federal government under a potential Trump administration. The document’s foreword explicitly states: “Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned.”
While Trump has attempted to distance himself from Project 2025, a recent New York Times investigation revealed that “well over half” of the document’s authors were former Trump administration officials or campaign team members.
Here’s what an Adult Film veteran said:
Holly Randall, a 26-year adult industry veteran, describes Project 2025 as an unprecedented threat. “I’ve seen these attacks come and go…. Project 2025, is the most explicit iteration of wanting to completely outlaw porn,” she explains, drawing comparisons to previous challenges, including the Reagan administration’s crackdown in the 1980s.
The campaign’s strategic approach includes running “public service announcements” in crucial swing states like Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Georgia. These messages appear just before adult content, with performers like Siouxsie Q directly addressing viewers: “Hey, I know you’re busy. I know you’re doing something. Hold on. If you want to keep doing this, you need to vote on November 5… Enjoy!”
Industry professionals argue that the implications extend beyond adult entertainment. Siouxsie Q describes pornography as the “canary in the coal mine” for First Amendment rights, connecting it to broader issues like Republican-led initiatives to ban sex education books from school libraries.
Randall adds that adult entertainment serves as a “lightning rod” for wider social issues: “It’s always the easiest thing to attack because it represents people’s uncertainty and fear about the changing morals of sexuality and of gender fluidity.”
Who is backing this campaign – ‘Hands Off My Porn’?
The campaign, funded by the independent Artists United for Change committee, operates independently of Democratic candidate Kamala Harris’s campaign. “Hopefully, secretly, she likes what we’re doing,” Siouxsie Q notes.
The timing is particularly significant as polls show a substantial gender divide in voter preferences, with Trump maintaining strong support among male voters. The campaign aims to influence this demographic in what is expected to be a closely contested election.
Is this an irony seeing Trump against Adult Film Industry?
Critics note the irony of Trump’s potential involvement in anti-porn initiatives, given his previous scandal involving adult film star Stormy Daniels. Randall suggests that while Trump personally “doesn’t care whether or not it’s outlawed,” his associates, including running mate J.D. Vance, represent a more conservative stance. Vance wrote the foreword to an upcoming book by Kevin D. Roberts, who authored the Project 2025 section calling for the porn ban.
“I think Trump will easily step aside and allow that to happen,” Randall concludes, expressing concern about the potential implementation of such policies under a second Trump administration.
The #HandsOffMyPorn campaign represents a unique intersection of adult entertainment, politics, and civil liberties, highlighting how industry-specific concerns can become part of broader political discourse in a pivotal election year.
