Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced India will actively pursue its ambition to host the 2036 Olympics. The announcement was made during the inauguration of the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) on Saturday. The session was held at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai.

A Dream of 140 Crore Indians

PM Modi expressed the nation’s enthusiasm for organizing the Olympics, saying, “India is very excited to organize an Olympics.” He affirmed India’s unwavering commitment to making this dream a reality, proclaiming:

“India will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to organize the 2036 Olympics. It’s a dream of 140 crore Indians.” He underscored that hosting the Olympics goes beyond securing medals; it’s a path to winning hearts and promoting peace.

In addition to the 2036 Olympics bid, PM Modi also conveyed India’s eagerness to host the Youth Olympics in 2029. He assured the support of the IOC in this endeavor, expressing his belief that India would receive constant backing from the organization. The announcement was made in the presence of IOC President Thomas Bach, who has played a pivotal role in shaping the Olympic movement.
