BJP Distances Itself from Kangana Ranaut’s remarks, Calls it “Consistent Rant, Illogical…”

Actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut, a BJP Member of Parliament from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, has been the talk of the town following her remarks on the now-repealed three farm laws. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has distanced itself from her comments, leading to a public apology from Ranaut.

What did Kangana Ranaut say on 3 Farms Laws?

Recently, Kangana Ranaut suggested that the three farm laws, which were withdrawn by the central government after widespread farmers’ protests, should be brought back. She stated, “I know this statement could be controversial, but the three farm laws should be brought back. Farmers themselves should demand it.”

Did BJP rebukes Kangana’s statements?

The BJP quickly moved to disassociate itself from these remarks. BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia clarified, “On the social media platforms, BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s statement on the farm bills that were withdrawn by the centre is going viral. I want to make it clear that this statement is a personal statement of her.”

Is Kangana statement’s baseless and illogical? BJP says this

Despite her apology, concerns remain about the potential impact of her words on the BJP’s image in Punjab. Another BJP national spokesperson, Jaiveer Shergill, expressed gratitude for the party’s swift action but voiced concerns about Ranaut’s repeated controversial statements:

“I am grateful to the BJP for distancing themselves from the comments of Kangana Ranaut. But as a Punjabi, I must say that Kangana Ranaut’s consistent rant, useless, baseless and illogical statements against the Sikh community, and the farmers of Punjab are damaging all the good work, the welfare-oriented, the Vikas-oriented work being done, that has been done by PM Modi for the welfare of Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat,” the BJP spokesperson told news agency ANI.

PM Modi’s bond with Sikh is ‘unbreakable’, says BJP

Shergill emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s relationship with Punjab should not be judged based on Ranaut’s comments, describing it as an “unbreakable, unshakable bond.”

This is not the first time Ranaut has faced criticism from her party. Last month, she was reprimanded for suggesting that a “Bangladesh-like situation” could have occurred in India during the farmers’ protest if the government hadn’t taken strong measures.

Here’s Kangana Ranaut’s apology:

Following the party’s rebuke, Ranaut issued an apology and retracted her statement. In a video message, she acknowledged her dual role as an artist and BJP worker, saying, “I have to keep in mind that I am not just an artist but also a BJP worker. My opinions should not be personal and should be the party’s stand. I regret and take my words back if my comments have disappointed anyone.”

Kangana Ranaut in Soup

Additionally, Kangana Ranaut is currently embroiled in controversy surrounding her latest film, “Emergency,” which is struggling to obtain a censor certificate amid allegations of tarnishing the image of Sikhs and making false accusations against the community.

As the BJP continues to navigate the political landscape, particularly in Punjab, the party’s swift action to distance itself from Ranaut’s comments underscores the sensitivity surrounding the farm laws issue and the importance of maintaining a unified party stance on crucial matters.
