The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the examination schedule for Class 10 and 12 board exams, set to commence on February 15, 2025. The announcement, marking a significant milestone in academic planning, has triggered mixed reactions from students and educators alike.
CBSE unveils 2025 Board Exam Schedule
The exam will kick off with English for Class 10 and Entrepreneurship for Class 12, scheduled to begin at 10:30 am daily.
The board has taken pride in releasing the date sheet 86 days before the examination—23 days earlier than the previous year—citing improved coordination with schools.
Students raise their voices concerning exam gaps
However, students have taken to social media platforms to express frustration over the examination intervals. One student on X passionately criticized the schedule, stating, “5 days gap for chemistry and 15 days for biology… I hate CBSE. 10 days gap for English and Psychology—I’m going to riot. I wish I had 10 days gap for chemistry instead.”
Another student highlighted the challenging back-to-back scheduling, commenting, “What’s worse, Home Science is on the 3rd of April and Psychology is the next day. We don’t have even one day. They’re insane.”
Here’s what CBSE responded:
In response to these concerns, CBSE defended its approach. The board emphasized that the date sheet was meticulously crafted, avoiding potential exam conflicts by carefully managing over 40,000 potential subject combinations to ensure no student faces simultaneous exams.
CBSE highlighted the benefits of early schedule release: “Students can begin preparations well in advance, helping them overcome examination stress and perform better. Families and teachers can plan their schedules, including summer vacations and evaluation duties, without disrupting non-board class studies.”
Giving sufficient time to prepare: CBSE
The board also noted that the early release allows exam centres sufficient time to prepare, potentially reducing logistical challenges and administrative stress.
While the schedule has drawn criticism, CBSE remains committed to its strategic planning, urging students to effectively utilize the extended preparation time.
As the 2025 board exams approach, students are advised to carefully review the complete date sheet on the official CBSE website and develop comprehensive study strategies to navigate the challenging examination period.
