Kangana’s ‘Emergency’ Gets a Reality Check: Court Says ‘Film Can be Release Only if…’

In a plot twist worthy of Bollywood itself, actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut‘s latest cinematic venture, “Emergency,” finds itself in a real-life drama with the Censor Board playing the role of tough critic.

Kangana Ranaut’s Emergency gets censorship?

The Bombay High Court heard on Thursday that Ranaut’s film, a biographical political thriller about former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s controversial 21-month Emergency period, could finally see the light of day – but only after going under the censor’s scissors.

Zee Studios, the film’s co-producer, eagerly awaiting their censor certificate, was handed a document outlining 11 modifications. It’s like a director’s cut but with the Censor Board as the unexpected director!

How does Emergency land into controversy?

Meanwhile, Sikh organizations have been raising their voices louder than a Punjabi wedding, concerned about their community’s portrayal and the film’s historical accuracy. They’re calling for a complete ban, turning up the heat on this political potboiler.

Adding fuel to the fire, Ranaut’s recent off-screen performance – her controversial comments about farmers’ protests and farm laws – has earned her boos from her own party, the BJP. Talk about a tough audience!

When is the next hearing?

The High Court, playing the role of a patient mediator, has adjourned the matter to September 30. Will Ranaut make the cuts? Will the film see a theatrical release? Or will it end up as the most expensive home movie ever made?

As the suspense builds, one thing’s for sure – in the world of Kangana Ranaut, there’s never a dull moment. Whether on screen or off, she continues to be the queen of controversy, keeping audiences, politicians, and censors on the edge of their seats. Stay tuned for the next episode of this real-life political drama!
