His mortal remains will be kept at CPI party offices in Kollam, Chavara, and Karunagappally to enable the public to pay their respects. His cremation will take place at his residence in Karunagappally at 10 am on Wednesday.
Hailing from a CPI student activist background, Ramachandran rose through the party ranks to serve as secretary of various local and district committees. Between 2006-2011, he was Chairman of the Kerala State Small Industries Development Corporation.
In the 2021 polls, as the LDF convenor, he had unsuccessfully contested the Karunagappally seat again. Kerala Finance Minister KN Balagopal remembered the leader as a great organizer and tireless communist who made immense contributions to developing Karunagappally.
The CPI has lost one of its most dedicated members just months after the demise of its legendary leader K R Gowri Amma. Ramachandran’s commitment to public service despite failing health typified his spirit of selfless communism.
