But it is possible to watch this Friday as India is celebrating National Cinema Day on September 20 this year, making all the expensive tickets cost slashed to such an affordable price. The Multiplex Association of India (MIA) has teamed up with the cinema Pan India to offer movie tickets at just ₹99.
According to the details by MIA, over 4,000 cinema halls, including PVR INOX, Cinepolis, Miraj, Wave, Delite, Movie Time and more, have confirmed to participate in this event. However, this offer is not valid for recliners or premium formats like 4DX and IMAX.

Taking it to X, the body said, “This special occasion brings audiences of all ages together for a day of cinematic bliss, celebrating the incredible success of multiple films at the box office this year. It’s a heartfelt “thank you” to all the moviegoers who contributed to this success and an open invitation to those who haven’t yet returned to their local cinema.”

You can easily buy your movie tickets from online and offline versions. Interested moviegoers can book their tickets through online portals such as BookMyShow, Paytm, or the particular sites of the multiplexes. This year, September 20 will come up with blockbuster movies like Transformers One, Never Let Go, Yudhra, Stree 2, Tumbbad, Veer Zara, Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam, and The Buckingham Murders.

Why is National Cinema Day observed?
National Cinema Day was first observed in 2022 by MIA. The association started this day to celebrate the reopening of theatres after the COVID-19 pandemic shutdowns. The MIA rolled out huge discounts on film tickets on this day, empowering film lovers to help theatre owners, who experienced immense losses during the lockdowns.
