‘Personal Views, Nothing…’, Kangana Ranaut after BJP condemns her farm laws remarks

Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has once again become controversial after she suggested that the three farm laws that were pulled back by the centre following the massive months-long farmers’ protest ‘should be brought back.’ However, her statement drew sharp criticism from her Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Mandi Lok Sabha MP acknowledged that her remarks were personal and had nothing to do with the party.

On Tuesday, the party distanced itself from her remarks, saying that Kangana Ranaut is “not authorised” to make such remarks on behalf of the BJP.

Is BJP backing Kangana on her remarks on Three Farm Laws?

Amid this controversy, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said in a video message that these comments were “personal statements” of Ranaut and don’t represent the party’s stand on the farm bills.

Here’s what Kangana said after BJP condemns her remarks:

Following this criticism, Kangana took it to X, stressing that it was the personal nature of her views. She said, “Absolutely, my views on Farmers Laws are personal, and they don’t represent’ party’s stand on those Bills. Thanks.”

‘Three Farm Laws’ should be brought back: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut

This controversy began earlier on Tuesday when, she remarked, “I know this statement could be controversial, but the three farm laws should be brought back. The farmers should themselves demand it,” in an interview with a media house.

During her interview, she argued that three laws were beneficial for the farmers of India but were repealed by the central government in the wake of the massive agitation by farmer groups in some states such as Punjab, Haryana and more.

“Farmers are a pillar of strength in the nation’s development. I want to appeal to them to demand the laws back for their own good,” she said.

What did Kangana Ranaut say about the Framers’ Protests?

Notably, this isn’t the first time the BJP has rebuked remarks by actor-turned-politician – Kangana Ranaut, who is also a Lok Sabha MP. Recently, the BJP distanced itself from her comments on the farmers’ protest which turned into a big conversation, however, amid that the party urged the MP to exercise restraint in making such statements in the future. Sadly, it happened again with her, this time also the topic was the farmers’ protest.

Last month, Kangana claimed that the farmer protests were a build-up to a Bangladesh-like situation in India. Moreover, she alleged that dead bodies were found hanging and that rapes were occurring at the protest sites, which drew sharp criticism from BJP and even the Opposition raised serious questions against her due to her remarks which sparked a controversy.
