In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old woman was gang-raped by three men who posed as human rights activists in Pune late on Thursday. The police have launched a major manhunt following a serious assault incident in the Bopdev Ghat area.

One suspect, a 36-year-old Kondhwa resident, has been arrested while authorities search for two additional suspects who allegedly posed as human rights activists during the incident.
According to police reports, the perpetrators targeted a 21-year-old woman and her companion in Bopdev Ghat. The suspects allegedly approached in a vehicle, falsely claiming authority to enforce restrictions on couples in the area. After photographing and threatening the victims, they forcibly transported the woman to another location where the assault occurred.

The survivor, who sustained multiple injuries, received immediate medical attention at a local hospital. She filed a formal complaint with Kondhwa police early Friday morning, leading to the first arrest.
“Senior police officers and teams from the Crime Branch are investigating the case,” a police spokesperson confirmed. Ten specialized teams from the Crime Branch and Detection Branch have been deployed to locate the remaining suspects.

The police have intensified patrols in the area and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Authorities are also reviewing security measures in the Bopdev Ghat region to prevent similar incidents.
