Toyota Century SUV Release
Toyota has gone all out and revealed details about the second model in the Century luxury line-up. Toyota Century SUV is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 engine with a plug-in hybrid. It also features a unique sliding door as an option. The car initially is supposed to go on sale in Japan.
Speaking about the doors, there are 2 options: a conventional door and a sliding door as shown below like an MPV.
The design is followed by the Sedan line-ups with emphasis on the grille inserts. The car has an upright stance along with rounded edges with a taper at the rear. The lights are all LED with different housings. At the front center of the grille, it features the iconic “Century Phoenix Emblem.” This emblem has been seen since 1967 on the Century Models from Toyota.

Though the Sedan gets a V12, the SUV gets a V6 petrol engine with a plug-in hybrid setup. It makes 406HP paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox along with four-wheel drive. The electric has a range of 69km pure EV while when the battery is depleted it has an average hybrid fuel consumption of 7 liters for every 100 km driven.
The following drive modes are available Normal, Eco, Sport, and Rear Comfort. In Rear Comfort, the braking and driving force is distributed in such a way that it is comfortable for rear passengers with no disturbance.
Features & Availability
When it comes to comfort, this car has a long list of the same. There are powered side steps on both sides, with the rear door opening 75 degrees. Also, a large grab handle is provided. The seats can be folded completely flat which is unlike any car in the world according to Toyota. This allows for more proper usage storage volume when needed. All of this also includes a rotating picnic table with touchscreen control panels and a refrigerator.
The sound system is supposed to be well done with 18 speakers. The interior has soft-touch materials along with woodgrain and brushed aluminum finish. Also, special attention has been paid to the Century steering wheel.
Toyota Century SUV would initially be available in Japan and could venture to launch in other regions in the coming months. According to some, Toyota might bring it to India to lure potential luxury customers from other brands. However, the decision remains yet to be seen.
