Verification & Fact-Checking Policy

Verification & Fact-Checking Policy

Introduction

At The News Grill, we are committed to upholding the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in our reporting. We understand the critical role that factual and verified information plays in our readers’ trust. This Verification & Fact-Checking Policy outlines our practices and guidelines for ensuring the accuracy of our news content.

Verification of Facts

  1. Multiple Sources: Our correspondents are required to verify facts for their stories from multiple reliable sources. This approach ensures that the information we publish is corroborated and trustworthy.
  2. Source-Based Information: In cases where our reporters have access to reliable information from sources, we take additional steps to ensure accuracy. We reach out to the relevant individuals or companies for confirmation. If there is no response from these parties by the time of publication, we clearly mention this in the news article.
  3. Facts in Press Releases: We do not take responsibility for the information provided in press releases sent to us by PR agencies. However, our editorial team reviews and may revise the information if necessary.
  4. Stories from Other Websites: When publishing news stories that have appeared on other sites and are attributed to credible sources, we attribute the information to those reports. We compile information from multiple sources while providing proper attribution to ensure accuracy.

Authored Articles

  1. Guest Columns: We publish authored articles on our site, but we do not assume responsibility for the facts or opinions presented in them. Our Short Summary mentions that it is a “Guest Column,” and at the bottom of such articles, we prominently display a disclaimer: “The views expressed here are solely those of the authors and do not in any way represent the views of The News Grill.” This disclaimer is presented in bold and italicized font.

Unverified Data on Other Sites

  1. Independent Verification: We do not rely on information provided on other news portals if it has not been verified or attributed to credible sources. If we find the information relevant, we conduct independent investigations to verify its accuracy.

Advertorials

  1. Tagging and Categorization: We do publish advertorials on our site. In the case of newsletter publication, we clearly tag such content as ‘Marketing Initiative.’ Similarly, when publishing advertorials on the website, we categorize them under specific sections like ‘Brand Talk’ or ‘Marketing.’ These articles are edited to adhere to The News Grill’s editorial stylebook, but we do not rewrite or delete content without prior notification or approval.
  2. Client Approval: In some cases, we share article previews with our clients for their approval. All content, including images, used in advertorials, is provided by the client.

By adhering to these verification and fact-checking practices, The News Grill strives to deliver accurate and reliable news content to our readers, ensuring their trust and confidence in our reporting.
